care instructions

100% cotton sheets

cotton is a natural fibre that will wear over time. following our care recommendations will ensure that your sheridan cotton sheets will perform at their best and be comfortable for longer.

products to avoid
chlorine bleach

never use chlorine bleach on coloured sheets, as it will cause permanent stains. chlorine bleach is often used on white sheets, but over time it destroys the fibres causing holes.

peroxide

if your sheets or pillowcases come into contact with peroxide, the effect is similar fibre damage to bleaching, which may not become apparent until after they are washed. you will often see benzoyl peroxide in the ingredient list of products such as facial cleansers, skin treatments, and hair colours. rinse your hands, face, hair or skin thoroughly before touching your sheets after use of these products.

self-tanners

be aware that products such as tanning lotions and creams, tinted sunscreens and spray-on tans can create permanent stains.

quilt covers

we recommend a 40°C gentle wash, a warm tumble dry setting, and a hot steam iron. to protect the fibres and for superior colour retention, use mild detergents such as those with a eucalyptus base. detergents containing optical brightening agents (OBA's) keep whites looking bright. for colours, we recommend oxygen bleach, often referred to as colour-safe bleach.

flannelette
shrinkage

be aware that 100% cotton fabric will always shrink when washed. we have cut your sheets larger to allow for this inherent shrinkage.

excess fibre

if you hang your flannelette sheets on the line, give them a gentle flick to remove the excess fibre, a natural occurrence in flannelette fabric.

If tumble drying, never use a hot setting, as this can burn the excess fibre and cause linting.

longevity

we recomend a gentle machine wash using a mild detergent. do not use detergents containing bleach as this will cause colours to fade and reduce sheet longevity.

darker colours

remove sheets from the washing machine promptly - although your flannelette sheets are colourfast, darker colours may bleed if left wet or damp for too long.

towels

we recommend a 40°C gentle wash, a warm tumble dry setting, and a hot steam iron. to protect the fibres and for superior colour retention, use mild detergents such as those with a eucalyptus base. detergents containing optical brightening agents (OBA's) keep whites looking bright. for colours, we recommend oxygen bleach, often referred to as colour-safe bleach.
