Two Ways to Style Florals in Your Bedroom

One of the simplest and most effective ways to change the vibe of your bedroom is to switch up your bedding — and when it comes to choosing which prints are best for the bedroom, florals are a perennial favourite. Our Maja collection is versatile, giving you the freedom to style it in a multitude of ways to suit your taste and decor. With its eye-catching pattern, which comes with a quilt cover, pillowcase, European pillowcase, bed cover, and shams, can serve as a statement piece in your bedroom. Today, we’re exploring two distinct styling options for your Maja bedding: a relaxed look and a refined look. Let’s dive right in.

Look One: Relaxed

If your idea of a perfect bedroom is laidback and fuss-free, styling a relaxed look with your Maja floral bedding is the way to go. First, we’re swapping out our quilt for a bed cover. No quilt insert = no wrestling it into the cover. Talk about easy breezy. It also gives us a nice low profile on the bed — clean, sleek lines are your friend here for achieving that relaxed-meets-minimalist aesthetic. We’ve opted to size up our bed cover here to achieve that nice, draped look.

For a bit of contrast, we’re pairing the smooth sateen of our Maja Bed Cover with some Abbotson Linen sheets in the shade flax. Crafted from buttery-soft Belgian flax linen, we love Abbotson for its tousled and naturally slubbed look (perfect for keeping in line with our relaxed vibe here). Plus, flax is a light neutral with a slight warmth to it, which picks up nicely on the pale shades in Maja’s floral print.

Two pillows are all you need for this understated style. Use the Maja Pillowcase Shams to keep the floral theme consistent, tossing them onto the bed for that lived-in look.

Look Two: Refined

For those who appreciate a more classic style, this refined look utilises layers and lustrous fabrics to create a plush, hotel-like look.

Begin by dressing your bed with a set of cotton sateen sheets — something like our 1000 thread count Hotel Luxury or 1200 thread count Millennia collections works perfectly here. Their lustre and silky-smooth finish offer a luxe foundation for this sophisticated style.

For this look, we’re creating additional layers by styling the Maja quilt cover and bed cover together. Simply fold your bed cover and lay it near the head of your quilt. Next, fold back your quilt and flat sheet over the top to create some lovely layers. Not only does this display each of these gorgeous sateen weaves, but we guarantee you'll want to dive right into all this plushness.

Now, layer on your pillows and cushions — we’re talking the works. Start with European pillows in the back, followed by standard pillows in front. Mix in some accent cushions in varying sizes, textures, and complementary colours to give your bed dimension and a touch of variation.
