Embrace: Behind the Scenes of Autumn Winter '24

We’ve officially waved goodbye to 2023, and you know what they say — new year, new season (or something along those lines). Between the likes of Barbiecore, the Eras and Renaissance world tours, cheering on the Matildas at the Women’s World Cup, and not to mention the influx of girl-core TikTok trends (girl dinner, girl math, the list goes on) – you don’t have to stretch your imagination too far to see why 2023 has been unofficially dubbed ‘the year of the girl’.

As we look to 2024, our team took inspiration from the original girl — Mother Nature. Australian landscapes have always been a source of inspiration for the Sheridan Design Team, and this season, it was the raw, untamed beauty of the Tasmanian coastline that served as our muse.

“This season is about creating a space that sets the scene for both entertaining and restoration. We’re celebrating a place to exhale, re-energise and connect with our environment.”

– Joanna Ross, GM of Product and Innovation

Our Autumn Winter Collection, titled Embrace, seeks to connect us with our surroundings; creating spaces where we can coexist with nature and take comfort in nature’s embrace. To capture this feeling, we knew we had to go to the source. Our production team travelled to Killora Bay on Bruny Island, Tasmania, which served as the stunning backdrop – and perfect canvas – to showcase the new collection.

Embrace is about finding a union between inside and outside. Interiors reflect exteriors, and in the untouched nature surrounding Killora Bay, this meant leaving polished and manicured looks behind. Unlikely pairings reign supreme throughout the collection — styling bold checks against florals, chunky knits with soft velvet, matte finishes with just a hint of celebratory sparkle scattered throughout. Each piece has its place and its own story to tell, designed to be collected and cherished for years as your space evolves and grows along the way.

We wanted to create spaces that invite you to cocoon into them — plush layers and soft finishes that invite you to curl up amongst them. This isn’t a space to shut out the world, but rather a quiet spot to exist amongst it. On location of our campaign shoot, natural light and unobstructed views of nature became key in creating this environment. Who needs to spend hours agonising over paint colours or wallpaper designs when you can let your environment be the star of the show?

When it came time to photograph table linen, it was important for us to highlight local produce along the way. Equipped with produce from local vendors, Get Shucked and Bruny Island Cheese (which we can assure you did not go to waste), we wanted to create a dining experience that felt, above all, welcoming. A joyful combination of pattern and colour; think details like embroidery that leans playful rather than classical, contrast trims that invite unexpected bursts of colour. Creating a space that’s meant to be shared, where everyone has a seat (or a cushion, depending on how al fresco you’re getting).

In our everlasting pursuit of self-care, this season, bathrooms become personal retreats. An oasis where we have permission to be alone with ourselves, to care for our bodies and minds. Fostering a space where you can engage your senses; bespoke scents carry you to far-off places, textures are plush and soft, colours are soothing, yet always filled with character. Like any room of your home, we want to leave space for your personality to shine through.

This season has been a labour of love from each of the teams here at Sheridan; from the in-house designers in our Sydney Design Studio, to our production team driving hours back and forth on location to get the perfect shot. We simply can’t wait to share it with you.
