Orange, tangerine, marmalade.

Not just a recitation of the names of citrus fruits (and what they can be made into) — these are actually warm colours that are perfect for summer styling…and all year round if we’re being honest.

Modern orange bedding can be difficult to figure out all on your own. The list of what to style with the hue (“orange and…”) is practically endless. You have the classic neutrals (white, cream), you have woodsy colours (browns, tans), and then there’s the opposite of the colour wheel (blues, aquas).

And then you’ve got the various types of orange as well. There’s red-orange, there’s neon, there’s pastel, there’s peach.

Needless to say, it can all be a bit much. Which is why we’re here, with our favourite shade — the aforementioned marmalade. Which, this season, you can find across our Reilly Stripe Collection (think quilt cover, sheet set, pillowcase pair, cushions, baby and more).

Sun-drenched, it’s surprisingly soothing — not only will it bring a touch of joy to your space, but its softness also makes it versatile; suitable for a variety of aesthetics. And yes, we’re talking about men and women here — you can style the shade to be as feminine or as masculine as you like.

How?

Let us show you just that, with three easy looks.

Orange Bedroom Look #1

Wonder what colour goes well with orange bedding? Turns out, that it’s actually more orange.

Monochromatic looks are a constant in the interior world and for good reason — they’re foolproof. Pairing our Reilly Stripe Quilt Cover in marmalade with the matching Breakfast Cushion makes for a soothing foundation in your bedroom. The fact that it’s made from organic cotton? That only helps.

To keep it all from looking to same-same, bring in mixed materials, and different textures. This modern orange bedding, crafted from chambray, will subtly contrast with the wool and checked design of our Elks Throw

Style in white pillowcases, like our 300TC Classic Percale Pair — also organic cotton, but with a crisp feel.

Have you ever seen a more tempting combination of textures? We didn’t think so. You’ll never want to leave your bed when it looks this good.

Orange Bedroom Look #2

Another of the best bedding colour combinations is what we call analogous colours — three colours that are next to each other on the colour wheel. Or, complementary colours. In this case, orange works with reds, yellows, pinks and whites.

Have your Reilly Stripe Quilt Cover in marmalade act as the common denominator, and go from there. Our Naville Throw will bring out the modern yarn-dyed stripes of your quilt; our Classic Percale Pillowcase Pair in snow works as a neutral accent.

The pièce de résistance is as simple as a cushion — our Wilmar Cushion, in rockmelon. An abstract design — with multiple colours from the sunkissed scheme — brings it together, while still feeling relaxed. It’s up to you if the accessories are artfully arranged or styled in laidback layers.

Orange Bathroom Look #3

There’s no reason why these harmonious shades shouldn’t provide comfort in what can be the most relaxing room in your home (seriously, how good is a hot shower or bath after a long day?).

Yep, we’re moving away from best bedding colour combinations and walking on into the bathroom. Which, as we all know — especially if you’re in a rental or houseshare of sorts — can be just a wee bit drab. Add energy to the space with our Luxury Retreat Towel Collection in marmalade, paired with a refreshing white from the same collection.

And for mums, mums-to-be, or people who just love loose-fit robes, our Maternity Bundle in rockmelon.
